2015 has drawn to a close and I for one can’t say that I am sad about it. This year has come with a ton of ups and downs, the great thing about going thru something, or anything for that matter is, that you always come out stronger and more knowledgeable on the other side, and for that I’m grateful. I can admit that I’m ending the year on an upside from where I began 12 months ago and can.not.wait. for 2016 as I feel it’s going to be spectacular!
Here are a few things I’ve learned in 2015:
1.) Saying NO, does not have to be justified. This year I’ve learned to say NO without apology. In a way you can say I’ve become selfish and started seriously looking out for myself, and saying no to anything that doesn’t bring me joy.
2.) DO.YOU.BOO ..I feel that I’ve always been the type that walks to the beat of my own drum, but this year, I started swaying to the bass and the treble. I’ve never been terribly out there and crazy with my style or whatnot but I definitely know that for the most part I flow against the grain of the crowd, which is totally fine by me. You shouldn’t care about what others think of you. I’m more concerned about caring about how I view myself. Sooner or later people will get on board, or jump ship, and you know what? That’s totally alright.
3.) QUIET TIME– For the past 6 months I’ve been a self induced social media break. The reason I initially took a break is because I felt overwhelmed by the ‘voices’ and constant connectivity. I also realized I would spend way too much time in my day scrolling, double-tapping, liking, and tweeting when I could be doing productive with that time. I can say it wasn’t really that hard for me to disconnect and go dark because I had been thinking about it for awhile prior to hitting the deactivate button on my social media accounts, I also don’t really miss it all. I’m not sure what that says about me.
In the new year I do plan to re-establish my little corner of the social media stratosphere so that I can grow and develop my blog, as well as connect with my readers (if I ever get any), it’s also super easy to share content with social platforms.
My absolute favorite thing of 2015 has to be Nori’s Black Book.
I have no idea who is the masterful sarcastic genius behind it but I take my hat off to them. Filled with sarcasm and sage advice from the world’s most fashionable and edgy toddler. Nori’s Black Book follows North West and her famous family. It’s really one of the biggest highlights of my year, seriously funny and a great pick me up when things are looking a little cloudy.
That’s it for my reflection on 2015, what valuable lessons have you learned and what has stood out with you the most this year?
